Art Nouveau Wedding Elegance in Providence

Lisa and Leah's Providence wedding was steeped in Art Nouveau inspired vintage glamour! Located in downtown Providence, The Dorrance is part of the old Union Trust Company that was built in 1901. The timeless elegance of this historic building served as the backdrop for Lisa and Leah's Art Nouveau-inspired wedding.


The wedding was steeped in vintage glamour and the Brides were stunning in their beaded gowns and crystal vintage-inspired headbands. Lisa and Leah chose my "Le Marguerite" design for their stationery package. They used this theme for the wedding invitations, dinner menus, cocktails menus, and more. This design evokes a lovely blend of the Victorian movement blending into the Art Nouveau movement and those chose sumptuous greens and shades of burgundy.


The vintage theme not only flowed from the Bride's stationery and attire, but to the reception as well. Cocktails were served by a burlesque aerialist from the company, Chifferobe Events, who specializes in period entertainment such as speakeasies, sideshows and circuses. The gorgeous building's tall and dramatic windows let the gorgeous winter light throughout the day until and unexpected ice storm hit just right after the wedding-- almost like putting frosting on the cake! A Delightfully Victorian Wedding

When I saw the wedding photos from Courtney and Eric's wedding at the Oakland Cemetery in Atlanta, my jaw dropped! They were shot by the phenomenal LeeAnn B Stephan. The ethereal shots are moody, dramatic and utterly filled with delightful details.


But a cemetery, you ask? Well apparently, they are becoming very popular. And why not? I have had a fascination with cemeteries since I was a little girl. I spent afternoons tending my Great Great Grandparent's graves with my Grandmother and then her grave with my Mother and so on. My high school was directly across the street from the cemetery and besides playing tag and making cemetery etchings, I got my first kiss there. Ooh-la-la! Our cemetery sits right on the banks of the Cuyahoga River, where one can frequently see bald eagles, foxes and deer throughout-- a place of beauty and peace. But I digress.


The Oakland Cemetery is known for it's historical Victorian vibe and history which easily translated to Courtney and Eric's wedding. The greenhouse served as a lovely backdrop for the reception and the meandering gardens and the 100 year-old mausoleum's make for quite a lovely stroll. Courtney chose my Le Boheme suite for her wedding stationery. Please check out some of the gorgeous photos below. Old Hollywood Wedding on Catalina Island

I was thrilled when Alexis and Chase asked me to design their Old Hollywood themed wedding invitations for their Catalina Island wedding. The Avalon Theatre is the island’s iconic 1929 gathering place along with  Catalina Casino's ballroom—a big, open space perched above the harbor with tons of history! Every summer I went to Swing Camp Catalina to learn how to Lindy Hop, Balboa and Charleston. Dance instructors from all over the globe flew in every summer to teach. It was here that my love for swing dancing blossomed. It was such a treat to dance to a big band in a place where the likes of Artie Shaw, Benny Goodman, Woody Herman etc. all played. I met Artie Shaw at an art opening in about 2002 before he passed away. I told him I danced to his music and he told me he hated swing dancers because they didn't pay any attention to the band. Well, it was a thrill to meet him anyway! Of course I am digressing, so back to the wedding...

The couple chose my Stardust wedding invitation suite and had me incorporate vintage images of Catalina throughout. My friends over at Paper Moon Shoppe even provided a paper moon backdrop for guests to strike a pose. Please check out the phenomenal photos by Ben & Kadin below.
